Our Guiding Beliefs
Recovery is a personal journey and different populations may require diverse pathways to achieve wellness. Recognizing the unique cultural, social, and personal factors that shape an individual's experience is essential. BIPOC communities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and other marginalized groups may seek recovery models that integrate cultural competence, address systemic barriers, and incorporate lived experiences to resonate more effectively."
Our Guiding Principals
Slay the stigma! Working actively to reduce stigma related to mental health and substance use disorder, promoting education and compassionate dialogue.
We value compassion and believe that everyone deserves empathy.
We value listening and believe that true advocacy can only be done when participant voices are heard.
Holistic, Culturally Competent Care: Addressing the diverse needs of communities by incorporating cultural awareness and sensitivity in all services and programs
Love and Respect Community for Recovery and Wellness is a Black-led, peer run & managed recovery community organization in Hendersonville, NC. Underserved and marginalized populations face higher risks for re-incarceration and substance use due to systemic barriers such as limited access to quality healthcare, socioeconomic instability, discrimination, and inadequate support networks.
We help individuals navigate mental health and substance use recovery systems, social systems and community reentry from incarceration. We assist people in finding a pathway to achieve an improved quality of life, as they define it. The majority of our staff are persons certified by the state of North Carolina to utilize experience with mental health and substance use disorders, houselessness, or incarceration to help others with their life journey.
